The Role of Degassing in Advanced Material Processing
High-performance epoxies, polymers, and composites are used in aerospace components, electronic encapsulation, biomedical devices, and structural materials. Their reliability depends not only on formulation but also on how they are processed before curing or final use.
During mixing, casting, impregnation, or curing, air bubbles and dissolved gases can become trapped in material systems. If left in place, these gases can create micro-voids, porosity, reduced strength, poor surface finish, inconsistent dielectric or thermal properties, delamination, and premature failure.
